Traditional wood-fired
sauna by the sea

Experience the warmth of a traditional wood-fired sauna by the sea at Burghead, Moray. Nestled beside the Moray Firth, our beach sauna combines the heat of Scandinavian wellness traditions with the beauty of the Moray coastline.

At the heart of all saunas is the sauna stove or ‘Kiuas’. The heart and soul of Orka Sauna is our Narvi Stony stove, handmade in Finland. The huge stone load which gives the Narvi its luxury signature feel, is designed to create a long lasting, gentle yet heavy löyly that recreates the feeling of the traditional Finnish smoke sauna (savusauna).

Löyly – the Finnish word for the cleansing steam and heat created when water is poured over hot sauna stoves. More than just steam, löyly is known as the spirit of the sauna, bringing a wave of warmth that restores balance to mind and body.

Sisu – While the world sees the sauna as a luxury, the Finns sees it as necessity – a forge for the spirit. At Orka Sauna we are inspired by traditional Nordic sauna culture and the Finnish spirit of sisu – inner strength, resilience and determination.
