Cold Water Safety

Jumping into cold water after a hot sauna is exhilarating, but it comes with physiological effects your body needs to handle safely.

Anything below 15c is defined as cold water and can seriously affect your breathing and movement, so the risk is significant during most of the year in the Moray Firth.

Sea dipping/cold water plunge is optional and is done so at your own risk and not connected with, or endorsed by, Orka Sauna. We do have watering cans located outside the sauna for you to enjoy the hot/cold contrast therapy.

Sea dipping/cold water plunge is not covered under our insurance policy. If entering the sea do so responsibly in accordance with your own experience and fitness levels and be aware of the dangers of local tides, offshore winds and cold water shock.
